Thomas Frank & Michael Carrick for Amazon Prime
Stills to accopmany an interview airing on Amazon Prime as part of their 2025 Champions league coverage. A dream come true for me to be at famous Tottenham Hotspur training ground shooting with elite managers and athletes. The training round did not disappoint, WOW! Even the decorated and hugely experienced Carrick mentioned that hes seen some amazing set ups over his career but this was right at the top end!
BTS!
With the TV and broadcast jobs I always have a lot of time during set up etc. I used the time to do a little exploring, walking around the pitches and training ground, what a set up! I couldn’t get a coffee as the green credentials there are so tight that you need your own cup to get a drink even from the machine! Speaking to the groundsmen and complimenting them on how unbelievable the grass and grounds were. They explained to me that they were art of a 38 strong team for groundskeeping alone! Honesty, looking at the grass I couldn’t believe it was real, I need these guys round my house asap!
TOP TEAM
John ‘Fenners’ Fendley got me on board and continues to support and be loyal to me, the opportunities he has given me are fantastic! He also know how to put a team together and Miles and the camera crew were and are always great, a seriously professional outfit! (dunno what Im doing there!)
I sat with Michael and his manager Jo in the canteen whilst we waited for the gaffa, we talked Ibiza and Pikes and general life, a wonderful guy and testament to my belief that the bigger the career and the more accolades and achievements the more chill and friendlier the person.
TURN AROUND, FACE THE WALL!
Being stills on these broadcasts shoots is a skill, I have around 10 minutes with the subject and have to steal moments here and there. In the past I have (in typical BB fashion) shot fromnthe hip and not really had anything planned. I have learnt that it’s probably best to have shots planned and be ready for them not to work or not have the time to try rather than missing shots that pop into your head after the event. When thinking about Thomas Frank I kept on coming back to his hair and how integral it was to his visual identity. I wanted to just shoot the hair, those waves are so identifiable!
“Turn around and face the wall please Thomas, I want to shoot the back of your head!"…….”Wow, nobodies ever asked that before! Ok”
